About JellyFinder

JellyFinder is a project that provides fast and reliable information about the presence of jellyfish on beaches and coves. Its operation is based on a proprietary calculation model that analyzes public scientific data from sources specialized in the marine environment.

Using variables such as water temperature, wind direction and strength, wave conditions, and currents, JellyFinder estimates a risk percentage for jellyfish presence at different swimming spots in Spain. This information is always indicative and helps you make better-informed decisions before entering the sea or choosing an alternative area.

JellyFinder also includes a collaborative feature that lets users mark the presence of jellyfish at specific bathing spots. These alerts are visible to the rest of the community, helping prevent visits to affected areas and improving everyone’s safety.

The project also includes a mini jellyfish library, where you can explore different species, their characteristics, and the areas where they are usually found. In addition, it offers information about relevant marine fauna in key locations, highlighting the occasional presence of species such as sharks, sperm whales, or bluefin tuna, adding informative and educational value to the platform.

How it works

  1. Search for a beach, island, or coastal area.
  2. Review the risk level and the short explanation.
  3. Use the result as a guide and always check local signage.
